With their slogan "Stay Healthy Eat Fish," it is to your advantage to check out Fins Market and Grill.

One of five in the Sacramento Area, Roseville's Fins Market and Grill opened their doors in February 2007. The location is located at the corner of Sierra College and Douglas boulevards in the Renaissance Creek Shopping Center.

Proprietors Ed and Darci Jayousi believe the freshest fish is the best ingredient to a good meal. They also attribute their consistent honors and recognition to the fact that they offer fresh fish, which when grilled to perfection allows the true flavor of the fish to be tasted.

Variety is the spice of life from their salmon to mahi-mahi.

Exec-utive Chef Ed Jayousi, wife Darci and boys Zachary and Kyle, live in Granite Bay. As locals, they know what the locals like. They have a positive attitude about their fresh fish menu and believe their prices, with dinners ranging from $7.95 to $24.95, make dining affordable for everyone.

An atmosphere of comfortable casual reminds one of a bistro. Families are welcomed and can relax with the soothing music. Visitors can enjoy a quick meal in under an hour or linger over a bottle of wine with a leisurely dinner for a few hours.

When we dined, the diligent servers were bustling in a full house, but they were still attentive. When asked what made them proud working here, we heard that strong personal relationships were on the top of their list. Manager Meshel Thomas has been with the Fins organization for 10 years.

It's a beehive of activity; the daily preparation process includes receiving fresh fish and then cutting it to order whether it's for their fresh fish market or for the restaurant. The kitchen personnel relish trying varied tastes and textures inspired by simplicity.

Customers have recommended the smoked salmon for appetizers. The Jayousi family likes the ahi salad sandwich with cheddar cheese on sour dough or wheat bread for lunch. For the entrée, halibut or blackened swordfish are favorites.

We tasted dishes of calamari steak, maddies patties that are twice-baked potatoes, prawns and scallops and found them to be delicious. The kids' menu includes fish and chips, cheese quesadilla, chicken strips and calamari.

In the fresh fish market select from a large variety of fish as well as lobster tails and live Maine lobster. Information about food preparation for lobsters was also available.

To complement the meal there are beers on tap, bottled beer, tea and a variety of wine selections. Desserts of carrot cake, chocolate cake and New York cheesecake are offered. The owner's favorite is carrot cake.

Thinking it over, how can Fins Market and Grill best serve you?

Come and be served - you'll feel appreciated. If you're in a hurry, all menu items are available for takeout. If you want to bring your party on the road, you will be accommodated. Having a party? Try out the catering, crab feed, cioppino or even a taco bar. For special orders allow 48-72 hours.

What's in the future for Fins Market and Grill?

With the expansion of five restaurants, the focus of the Jayousi family will be on being attentive to each restaurant. With the positive attitudes we observed, their endeavors are paying off.
