Borders launches pilot program in Roseville

Borders recently choose their Roseville store as part of a launch for a five-month pilot program of educational classes.
The program will provide customers with about 400 free Borders educational classes per month. Topics range from Shakespeare and baby sign language to guerrilla marketing and breaking into show business.
Skorman Productions, a San Francisco-based firm founded by serial entrepreneur Stuart Skorman, will produce and manage the program.
"We've enlisted his expertise and creative energy to help Borders pilot an aggressive program of educational classes in our stores that brings value to our customers, has the potential to build our business and aligns perfectly with our mission to be a headquarters for knowledge and entertainment," says Borders Group Chief Executive Officer George Jones.
The classes, which begin Feb. 1 will be taught by local professionals, celebrities and business executives and are designed to be fun, educational and interactive.
For the pilot program, Borders stores in Roseville, Natomos and East Sacramento will offer a minimum of five free classes per day, six days a week.
