Emerald Brigade announces golf tourney
Date Published: February 2008
Granite Bay High School's Emerald Brigade is hosting a golf tournament fundraiser on March 24 at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville.
The funds raised through this event will help support the ongoing operating expenses of the Emerald Brigade, including instruments, instructors' stipends and competition expenses. Businesses and individuals are invited to participate either as a sponsor, golfer or auction donor.
The Emerald Brigade consists of an award-winning marching band, color guard, drumline, jazz band and concert band. Formed in 1996, the program has grown from an aspiring marching band, uniformed in matching polo shirts, to its current glory in full marching splendor.
Under the direction of Lynn Kulikowski, the Emerald Brigade recently completed its most successful marching season yet. They recently won the Grand Sweepstakes Award in four of the five competitions in which they participated this year in various locations throughout Northern California.
Additionally, the Emerald Brigade concert band was uniquely honored with an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall for the New York Wind Band Festival this past spring. The band was one of just four high school bands countrywide selected for this prestigious international event.
Through the support of the community, the Emerald Brigade program allows more than 130 students the opportunity to receive an enriched musical education.
