More than 30 volunteers, including Granite Bay Rotary members, gathered Dec. 11 at the Granite Bay home of Mark and Teresa Soto to help assemble packages to be shipped to the troops in Iraq. The Sotos' sons Joshua and Benjamin are both stationed in Iraq, as is attendee Deborah Johns' son William. Volunteers Sue Schoen and Carol Brown also have sons who serve in the military and have been in Iraq or Afghanistan. Adam Blackburn, also a Granite Bay soldier, recently received a Purple Heart when he was wounded in Afghanistan.
