Although this issue is primarily about the arts, a subject dear to my heart, there are also plenty of happenings covered in this issue. Some arts related - some not.

There are a couple of brand new events happening this month. The first is Taste of Granite Bay, planned by the ambitious Susie Glover.

I first met Susie when she was the spokesperson for the Friends of the Granite Bay Library, as well as the Granite Bay Rotary Club. She then took on a role with the local Daughters of the American Revolution, before becoming a volunteer for A Touch of Understanding.

Although she has since dropped out of Rotary, it seems almost every month there is something this very involved lady is involved in.

Susie has outdone herself in planning the Taste of Granite Bay - part community awareness program, part fashion show, part social gathering, part fundraiser - this event sure to be an annual must-attend.

Susie puts the tired in retired, in that I get tired just thinking about all she does for Granite Bay.

The second brand new venture is a concert benefit for The Gathering Inn and Acres of Hope. The concert will be performed at Adventure Christian Church on Oct. 19-20 by the Sierra Community Chorus, along with other singers.

It is another ambitious venture, but one music lovers won't want to miss.

In addition to these one-of-a-kind events, several other worthy events are planned in October or early November. Peruse the pages of this issue for details on the Pink & White Ball, Farm & Barn Tour, ESF Dinner Dance Auction and, of course, the Autumn Art Studios Tour.
