A Rainbow trout pond affords a sure catch for the novice fisherman.

Owners Beverly and Mike Herrington take a moment to relax in the Sierra Pines Resort dining room.

Visitors have a beautiful view of the Sierra Buttes.

A balcony gives a bird's-eye view of the Yuba River.

Breathtaking views of the Yuba River are witnessed from your room.
Whether your pleasure is to wander through a forest of giant pines, picnic beside a sparkling mountain lake or journey back through time to the days of the Gold Rush, Herrington's Sierra Pines Resort in Sierra City can accommodate you.

Located in the heart of the Sierra Mountain Range, Herrington's has afforded tourists the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Sierra's natural wonders for the past 40 years.

Sierra City is approximately an hour drive Northeast from Auburn on Highway 49. Travelers drive through one of the most scenic stretches along that highway, including historic mining towns like Grass Valley and Downeyville. Tourists may decide to stop for a side trip to explore the quaint restaurants, shops and historic spots in these once booming mining communities.

Arriving at their destination in Sierra City, travelers are greeted with the awesome sight of the majestic Sierra Buttes whose rocky peaks tower 8,600 feet high. Nestled at their feet is Herrington's Resort.

After settling in a comfortable, wood-paneled room, furnished with satellite TV, coffee maker and even an alarm clock for early risers, guests can relax and enjoy the spectacular views from their private balcony before dinner. Views like mountain waterfalls splashing into the Yuba River

The resort's restaurant has a beautiful dining room with a huge stone fireplace and picture windows looking out at the Buttes. A full-service bar serves cocktails before dinner. Rainbow trout fresh from the resort's giant fishpond is always on the menu, along with a tempting variety of cuisine and house specials.

Once the mother lode for gold, Sierra City and the surrounding area is now the mother lode for fun and relaxation.

Sierra City's famous Kentucky Mine founded in the 1850s at the height of the gold rush gives history buffs the feel and flavor of a time that gave birth to California. For the more adventurous, a panning expedition to the banks of the Yuba might even yield a few colorful flakes of gold for a souvenir.

Within a radius of nine miles there are more than 20 crystal-clear mountain lakes for fishing, boating, hiking and swimming. There are four 18-hole golf courses less than 30 minutes from the resort. North Shore Lake Tahoe is an hour away and the casinos in Reno are 80 minutes.

Whether vacationers choose horseback riding on a mountain trail or shooting the rapids of the Yuba River they will "strike it rich" with a vacation at Harrington's Sierra Pines Resort.
